Ben Barnert
Ben Barnert was one of the world’s foremost sports architects, driven by the belief in working hard and enjoying what you do. Some of the spaces that helped build the Populous design practice — Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Acrisure Stadium, PETCO Park and Citi Field — are manifestations of Ben’s design work.
Throughout his career, Ben developed a broad understanding of multiple facility types and project delivery methods. This perspective allowed him to build diverse, specialized teams to successfully deliver complex sports venues, resulting in more than just built stadiums and ballparks — Ben continually set the standard of excellence and created spaces cherished by millions of fans.
A practical jokester, talented architect and respected businessperson, Ben was known for inspiring teams to reach their full potential. Ben managed teams of more than 50 people, providing direct accountability for his clients and leadership to the project team to ensure quality design, quality documentation, and budget and schedule adherence.
