New Renderings and Video Debut for New Mississippi State University Dudy Noble Field
This past week, Mississippi State University unveiled updated renderings and video for the new Dudy Noble Field, offering an early vision of what will ultimately become the crown jewel of collegiate baseball. The new ballpark, designed by Wier Boerner Allin and Populous, will pay homage to the program’s history by keeping the distinctive and timeless features of the previous ballpark including the Left Field Lounge. It will also allow Mississippi State University to continue to host one of the largest crowds in collegiate baseball. Seating changes will come in the form of a new double-tiered grandstand, suites, the Omaha Club, general admission berms and outfield lounges. The new Dudy Noble Field will also bolster an improved multimedia experience, led by the installation of the largest HD videoboard in collegiate baseball.
“As an alumnus of Mississippi State University and a big fan of the baseball program, this project hits close to home,” said Wier Boerner Allin Architecture’s Michael Boerner, Principal Architect for the project. “Our design aims to celebrate the rich tradition of MSU baseball while enhancing the experience of the Bulldogs’ fans.”
“We were honored to work with Mississippi State University and Wier Boerner Allin Architects to design a world-class ballpark renovation,” said Jason Michael Ford, Populous Project Manager. “From the new Left Field Lounge boxes to the right field plaza, the new Dudy Noble Field ensures fans of all generations will have a place to call their own.”
The famed outfield spaces will become permanent installations, each customized to retain the original character and appearance of the Left Field Lounge. The new outfield will also provide modern amenities including electricity, storage, restrooms and concession areas. Other improvements include several welcoming entry plazas, an elevated concourse with continuous views of the playing field, and a children’s play area to engage each and every fan while appealing to the family demographic.
“This project will cement Mississippi State University as the premier baseball experience in all of collegiate baseball,” said MSU Athletic Director John Cohen. “Populous and Wier Boerner Allin are essential in crafting a future vision for the program to create a place for fans and players alike to thrive.”
The renovation not only impacts and improves the fan experience, but also improves the student-athlete experience with new team areas including a clubhouse, training room, equipment room, film room and professional player locker room. The new ballpark broke ground in May of 2017 and is scheduled to be complete for the Bulldogs’ 2019 season. Construction will continue around the 2018 season and areas completed for 2018 include lower chair back seating, berm seating areas in the right field corner, Left Field Lounge boxes, the right field plaza and standing room areas in the outfield.
