The five-star Londoner Macao resort is one of the jewels of the Cotai Strip, home to some of the most luxurious accommodation in the “Las Vegas of the east.” The addition of the 6,000-seat Londoner Arena has created an entertainment hub, able to attract global superstars.
Located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Londoner Macao, the new Populous-designed Londoner Arena has allowed the resort to dramatically expand and diversify its events calendar, opening up the possibility to host intimate occasions, like speeches and corporate banquets, all the way up to major shows, from international sporting events to world-class concerts.
Thanks to the arena's thoughtful seating design, artists are immersed in a high-energy performance space. At the same time, guests can experience international A-list productions typical of a large-scale arena with two or three times the capacity but with sightlines in every seat and a proximity to the stage that you rarely find at other venues.
With a capacity of 6,000 seats, the amphitheater-style layout offers a multi-tiered seating strategy that can be reconfigured depending on the event type to ensure that even the most peripheral seats have incredible views of the stage. Alongside the exceptional sightlines, the arena delivers a state-of-the-art audio experience thanks to advanced acoustic technology that distributes sound evenly whatever the performance, creating crystal-clear audio for the whole audience.
Populous also led the interior design of the venue and was tasked with finding a cohesive design responding to the “Londoner” theme applied across the precinct. To do this, our team drew inspiration from the Victorian Neo-Gothic expressions of exposed metalwork and intricate steel detailing reminiscent of St. Pancras Station in London. The use of copper and bronze that is softened with warm timbers creates elegance and charm for guests as they experience the venue.
Maximising the guest experience was the key driver for the project, and our designers have created a venue that elevates that experience, whether guests have general admission, premium, VIP or VVIP tickets. On entering the arena, guests are ushered along a plethora of premium hospitality venues and function spaces. An array of perks, including private suites and dedicated bars, welcome the arena’s most exclusive patrons. The grand VIP Lounge features a double-sided bar, which also serves the VIP area of the main auditorium.
The luxury is dialed up further in each of the four VVIP bunker suites, which have their own private entrances and include live-feed video and audio from the event. These suites can also double as dressing rooms to accommodate performers and their production teams. Back-of-house provisions include a full-service restaurant, six dressing rooms and a specially designed Star Dressing Room reserved for A-list performers and their entourages.
The Londoner Arena has already hosted performances from acclaimed concert pianist Lang Lang and events like the Tatlers Ball
